V-belt pulleys (also called sheaves) are working with V-belts to transfer motion from motors to belts, fans, and pumps. They have V-shaped grooves corresponding to V-shaped belts to prevent slippage and misalignment. V-belt pulleys provide maximum friction and torque in compatible V-belt drive systems.
Available in single or double grooves, they offer a pitch range from 1.9 inches to 6.7 inches (A belt) and 2.4 inches to 7.0 inches (B belt). 1VP and 2VP series are finished-bore variable speed sheaves’ material is cast iron. Designated for heavier duty service up to 25 HP. Variable pitch pulleys are working with 3L, 4L, 5L, A, B, or 5v belts.

Types of V-Belt Pulleys
Several types of pulleys are used in v-belt transmissions, each with a different implementation. Occasionally flat-belt pulleys are suitable when the back side of the v-belt is used to rotate the pulley in the opposite direction of the driven pulley, as commonly employed with ribbed v-belts.
Standard pulleys have dimensions with one or multiple grooves, which mate with classic, small-engine, and hexagonal-style v-belts.
Companion pulleys contain integral spokes which run radially on the pulley. This produces a high strength-to-weight ratio advantageous to fractional horsepower pulleys.
Idler pulleys are used solely as belt tensioners in many v-belt drives but play an essential part in maintaining the tension required to drive the transmission. Idler pulleys reduce belt service life and the industry's efficiency. Still, they are necessary for messages where the drive must clear obstructions, or the driven pulley does not maintain a good arc of contact with the v-belt to transmit torque. Idlers can interact with either the wedged or flat side of the v-belt since no torque is required to be sent to this axle.
Variable speed pulleys have a variable pitch that adjusts the driven RPM, often within a range represented as a percentage. These pulleys are also helpful in maintaining belt tension for dynamic loads.
Step pulleys have two or more non-adjustable grooves with different pitches around the same shaft. These pulleys change the speed ratio of the transmission.
